个人经历
父亲为飞机驾驶员、母亲是小学老师，因为父亲工作关系，部分童年岁月在纽西兰渡过。从小学习钢琴弹奏，13岁开始写歌。向外婆借来车子，开往伦敦各地寻求公开表演机会，也在多所学校张贴广告，增加曝光率。随后成为Tom And The Tides乐团一员，不过，这个经历并不顺遂和愉快（于是退出），Tom决定以单打独斗的方式步入音乐之途。因为Live秀的亮眼表现，让Lily Allen大为惊艳并且称许：「Tom在舞台上充满活力的演出，让我想起David Bowie！」很快的签入自创In The Name Of厂牌旗下，由索尼音乐代为国际发行！（关于经历会在后边展开)
《Long Way Down》
首张录音室专辑《Long Way Down》，Tom负责所有词曲撰写以及制作大任，道尽属于自己的情感面和崎岖音乐生涯路。琴键轻盈敲打出优美旋律，让〈Grow Old With Me〉透着唯美的浪漫，唱着白头偕老、永浴爱河的感动，提供一首耐听且适合恋人互许终身的主题曲；澎湃激昂的〈Hold Me〉，加重摇滚的机制，Digital Spy好评推崇：「在对的桥段之中，将喧闹之音发挥极致」，登记英国金榜Top44；渗入福音式唱合的〈Another Love〉，急速吉他拨弦以及钢琴弹奏相互对鸣，勾引渐进飙升的情绪，一段椎心刺痛的恋情油然而生，令人无比动容催泪。（这是索尼音乐的宣传）

此专在荷兰以及tom老家英国专辑榜空降冠军，在英国也曾进入单曲榜前十（好吧第十），奇怪的是预购在柬埔寨登顶。另外《Another Love》是tom迄今为止口碑最好的单曲，成绩在欧洲也是专辑中最好的（可答主最喜欢behind the rose）。作为新人，榜单成绩是不错的，但不是新人中优秀水平。

如何评价Tom Odell
tom odell的发展实际令人堪忧，作品风格单一是很大缺陷，体现在曲风单一，乐器单一，唱法单一。其作品可取之处当然也有很多，否则答主也不会听他的歌。这些优点集中体现在演唱者和音乐创作及歌词的用情之深，情感的浓烈，爆发部分绝对是歌曲亮点与成功之处，虽然不太受大众喜爱，但他的歌曲受到了很多时尚品牌的青睐（代表为Burberry）。tom以后要做的就是权衡利弊，既要坚持自我又要迎合市场。
